The Death of Saint Paul

When I began the project of limiting myself to Sacred paintings in 2004 I was confronted with a problem; how do I depict current events and life events via the Sacred theme? This was very evident when I was struck with the news of the death of Nick Berg. Normally I had a venue to express my shock and horror. This was now silenced because of my self imposed guidlines. I could not express it with a painting unless it was in the Sacred theme. I decided to depict the death of Nick Berg within the story of the Death of Saint Paul, who according to legend was beheaded by the Romans.
